The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. good robot vacuum is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
